SUMMARY:RBO Ballet matinee: The Nutcracker
DESCRIPTION:The Nutcracker \nRunning time 150 minutes (including one interval) \nDiscover the enchantment of ballet with this sparkling festive treat for the whole family \n\nA young girl’s enchanted present leads her on a wonderful Christmas adventure in this beautiful classical ballet\, danced to Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score. \nThe young Clara creeps downstairs on Christmas Eve to play with her favourite present – a Nutcracker doll. But the mysterious magician Drosselmeyer is waiting to sweep her off on a magical adventure. After defeating the Mouse King\, the Nutcracker and Clara travel through the Land of Snow to the Kingdom of Sweets\, where the Sugar Plum Fairy treats them to a wonderful display of dances.  \nBack home\, Clara thinks she must have been dreaming – but doesn’t she recognize Drosselmeyer’s nephew? \nPeter Wright’s nigh-on definitive production for The Royal Ballet ranks as one of the most enduring and enchanting versions of The Nutcracker. \nWith its festive period setting\, dancing snowflakes and enchanting stage magic\, Lev Ivanov’s 1892 ballet has become the perfect Christmas entertainment\, with Tchaikovsky’s sumptuous\, sugar-spun music the most recognizable of all ballet scores. \nLoosely based on the story by E.T.A.Hoffmann\, the ballet opens with a lively Christmas party\, its Victorian setting captured in opulent detail by Julia Trevelyan Oman’s designs. Wright’s choreography ingeniously incorporates surviving fragments of the ballet’s original material\, including the sublime pas de deux for the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Prince. But in emphasizing the relationship between Clara and the Nutcracker Prince\, the production also gains a touching subtext of first love. \nTickets £17 and £11 for under 18. \nLicensed bar (card or cash)\, with wine\, beer\, soft drinks\, tea and coffee \, run by the VHC. \nChoreography Peter Wright after Lev IvanovMusic Pyotr Il’yich TchaikovskyOriginal scenario Marius Petipa after E.T.A. DESCRIPTION:A new series of screenings for the Victoria Hall CharityEXHIBITION ON SCREENTurner & ConstableDirected by David Bickerstaff \nCelebrating the 250th anniversary of their births\, this unmissable new documentary explores Turner and Constable’s intertwined lives and legacies alongside the groundbreaking Tate exhibition. \nTwo of Britain’s greatest painters\, J.M.W. Turner and John Constable were also the greatest of rivals. Born within a year of each other\, both used landscape painting to reflect the changing world around them. Tate Britain is bringing these two greats together for a groundbreaking exhibition\, in London from November 2025 to April 2026\, and Exhibition on Screen once again has exclusive and privileged access to bring their extraordinary art and remarkable stories to the big screen in February so that you can enjoy both film and exhibition together. \nDiscover unexpected sides to both artists with intimate views of sketchbooks and personal items and insights from leading experts.Turner’s blazing sunsets and sublime scenes from his travels and Constable’s idealised depictions of beloved places from home whipped the public of the time into a frenzy of enthusiasm. Constable represents the very best of the old school of realism and pastoral nostalgia; Turner\, an exciting new way of depicting emotion and dreamlike impressions. Critics compared their starkly different styles to a clash of ‘fire and water’.  \nDon’t miss this opportunity to see these greats side-by-side\, as they so often were in life\, on the big screen for the first time.  \nTicket £12 and £8 for under 18Licensed bar (card or cash)\, with wine\, beer\, soft drinks\, tea and coffee\, run by the VHC\nTrailer

SUMMARY:Live At The Victoria: W3G (We Three Girls)
DESCRIPTION:W3GTheir story from their website W3G \n"An 8-piece soul and funk band that knows how to have a blast! We bring the fun with live performances of all floor-filler tunes\, ensuring the audience has as much fun as we do. We don't take things too seriously\, just seriously entertaining!" The band was formed from a one off to perform at BunkFest in 2021.  We had a fantastic time and a great reception and decided that we all wanted to continue working together.  Chris joined us at this point as our drummer and combined with Neil (guitar)\, Andrew (Bass)\, Dan (Keys)\, the lovely Anne (Sax) and Clare\, Suzie and Trish (Vocals) and W3G was born.   \nClare  and Trish had sung together in a couple of different bands for years\, so it was fortuitous for them to meet with such a talented group of musicians to share our love of soul\, disco\, funk and anything else that takes our fancy.  The close three-part harmonies\, melodic Saxophone and funky tightness of keys\, guitar bass and drums offer a distinctive vibe to our music.   \nWe play a mixture of soul classics\, funk\, disco and some great crowd-pleasing curve balls in our feel good and party vibe setlist. \nListen to some of their songs \nIt will be a great night of music at The Victoria Hall\, starting at 8pm. Doors open 7.15pm. \nTickets £17Licensed bar (card or cash)\, with wine\, beer\, soft drinks\, run by the VHC.
